There’s a new shooter on the horizon and it’s coming to Steam early access, plus it’s going to be free-to-play
Upon first seeing Histera on Steam, I was a little skeptical. The industry is full of shooters and what could this one do to set itself apart from leagues of others vying for our attention? It seems to be a feature called The Glitch.
Call of Duty still holds the crown for many as the go-to multiplayer shooter.
What is this Glitch? Well, the whole of Histera is built on this concept that certain points in history are coming together in a glitch. This means as you play, your battlefield could be in the fields of World War II or in the far-flung future.

Not only that, but the weapons you use will also be affected by the Glitch so that one moment you’re using a primeval bow and arrow, but the next you’ll be equipped with an assault rifle.
It’s a really interesting concept that will not only keep each match fresh, but it will keep players on their toes, too.
According to the Steam page, players will need to think about their loadout and strategy as some weapons and items will allow for “era-defining synergies.” This means your main weapon could be a futuristic rifle, but you will also carry a poison-flinging prehistoric shotgun, or flint-tipped throwing knives.
It sounds rather bonkers but in the best way. From a look at the trailer, the maps will morph and change as you play forcing you to rethink on the fly.

The game will release on Steam early access 16 May 2024 and be completely free-to-play so there’s no excuse not to download it and give it a try. Here’s hoping that its unique concept will drive players to join in.
