Upcoming MMORPG Throne And Liberty is being described as Assassin’s Creed meets Final Fantasy which has certainly piqued my curiosity.
Developed by NCSOFT and Amazon Games, Throne And Liberty is set to be a free-to-play multi-platform MMORPG, so you’ll be able to enjoy it on Steam, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5 when it finally launches. Set in the open world of Solisium, the synopsis reads, “There is no single path to victory. You’ll need to adapt your fight to survive and thrive through strategic decisions in PvP, PvE or both as you encounter evolving battlefields impacted by weather, time of day, and other players.”
Take a look at Throne And Liberty in action below.
Your goal is to defeat Kazar and “claim the throne while keeping rival guilds at bay”. It certainly sounds intriguing - particularly the way the environment and weather influences the game. Just a few days ago, it was confirmed during a launch showcase that Throne And Liberty is aiming to release on 7 December in Korea with a global launch coming in 2024.

The showcase also informed potential players about the monetisation model. Like many live-service games, Throne And Liberty will have a Growth Pass and a Battle Pass. There are, of course, free rewards but if you part with your cash, you’ll receive extra cosmetics and such like. The devs further added that they plan to release multiple major updates for the game per year, set a couple of months apart.
The first major update following launch is set to introduce the new Draforyft region. If you head on over to the Throne And Liberty website, you can register your interest for testing. Otherwise, hold tight until the launch which should hopefully take place soon.
