An Unreal Engine remake of Sonic Heroes is supposedly in development according to leakers, huge news for defenders of the game like myself.
Sonic The Hedgehog fans have been begging SEGA to remake some of the blue blur’s most famous adventures for years now, though it’s usually the Sonic Adventure games with the most demand.

This means it probably came as a shock to many when it was revealed a remake of Sonic Heroes is reportedly in development, which has been corroborated by two leakers up to now.

Leaker Zippo was the first to announce the news, which was then supported by another leaker called Midori.
It’s said the Sonic Heroes remake is being made with Unreal Engine, and will release sometime in 2025 for the Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PC and the unannounced successor to the Nintendo Switch.
Sonic Heroes is often considered a black sheep in the series, which gave players control of four teams, Team Sonic, Team Dark, Team Rose and Team Chaotix.
The gameplay differed greatly to that of the Sonic Adventure games that came before it, with each member of the team fulfilling a certain role, speed, power and flight.

It scored mixed to average reviews, with one of the main areas of contempt being its level design and how the player must essentially play through the game four times in order to unlock the true ending.
That being said many fans like myself enjoy it, in fact I’d go as far to say that it’s severely underrated, though I think that’s a story for another time.
At the time of writing SEGA hasn’t confirmed the remake is truly in development, so for the time being Sonic The Hedgehog fans should take this news with a pinch of salt.
