Fans had been begging for a remake of Silent Hill 2 for years, but when it was officially announced last year, reactions were mixed, to say the least.
Silent Hill 2 (the new one) is being developed by Bloober Team - the same team behind Layers of Fear and The Medium. The devs have previously been criticised for their handling of sensitive subject matter and harmful depictions of mental health (thanks, TheGamer), and so it’s very reasonable that fans are worried about what they might do with a game that’s already loved by so many.
Take a look at the trailer for Silent Hill 2 below.
One thing that fans can look forward to though is the apparent scale of the game. As Rely on Horror reports, prominent gaming insider Dusk Golem was recently asked about the size of Silent Hill 2’s remake via Discord, to which they responded: “It’s 100% bigger than the original.”

Now, there are a couple of ways we can take this - it’s not clear if the leaker is alleging that the remake will be literally double the original game’s size, or if it will simply definitely be bigger. Either way, more content is almost always a good thing, so if this is true, then it’s pretty exciting.
In case you were unaware, Silent Hill 2’s remake will be a timed PS5 console exclusive, but it’ll release on PC at the same time as Sony’s new-gen console. Presumably, it’ll come to Xbox Series X/S eventually, but if you’re a hardcore Silent Hill fan, you’re probably going to want to pick it up via one of the other platforms in order to get stuck in sooner.
We still don’t know when Silent Hill 2 is going to release - we’ve not even been given a vague release window by Konami, so we’ll have to sit tight for now.
