Red Dead Redemption 2 protagonist Arthur Morgan is returning, just not in the way you’d think.
I remember a time when there was a weird amount of backlash for Arthur Morgan becoming the new face of Red Dead Redemption, and now he’s one of the most beloved characters in gaming, on equal footing with John Marston.

This is of course due to the fantastic performance of Roger Clark in Red Dead Redemption 2, which not only made us love the character for his silly lines and actions, but also deeply feel for him and his inevitable fate.

For fans hoping he’ll return for Red Dead Redemption 3, I’m afraid you’re out of luck, as Clark feels like his story is over and done with.
Of course it’s up to Rockstar Games what happens to his character moving forward, and if Red Dead Redemption 3 is another prequel, maybe Arthur will make a cameo.
Fear not though as Arthur Morgan will return for a brand-new Red Dead Redemption project later this year, an audiobook about the Wild West and its ties to Rockstar’s game world.
Historian Tore Olsson wrote a book titled Red Dead’s History, all about the games and the real-life historical influences that shaped the story and characters.

The book is being transformed into an audiobook, with Roger Clark returning to read it in-character as Arthur Morgan, making the beloved character your new US history teacher if you’re interested.
The book’s description reads: “Weaving together the fictional characters and plot of the Red Dead Redemption games with real-life historical vignettes, Olsson reveals that the action-packed violence of the Red Dead universe isn’t just spawned from Hollywood westerns but rooted in real sociopolitical issues from turn-of-the-century America.”
Red Dead’s History goes on sale 6 August later this year, and will be available in paperback and audiobook form.
