Multiple PlayStation titles have seemingly been permanently removed from the PlayStation Store, mere days after Sony was criticised for allowing the titles onto their storefronts.
Thank you in advance to Eurogamer’s Vikki Blake for the source (and to IGN’s Rebekah Valentine for the original story).
Last week, Sony came under fire for allowing certain “slop” titles to appear on the PlayStation Store. Even if you didn’t read Rebekah Valentine’s report on said titles, I’d wager that you probably know exactly what kind of games I’m referring to if you’re a PS5 owner.

Low-effort, AI-generated garbage has been flooding both the PlayStation Store and the Nintendo eShop over the last couple of years.
If you want a good example of exactly what constitutes as said slop, we actually covered one such example last month; an AI-generated Animal Crossing clone called Anime Life Sim that’s currently available to wishlist on the PlayStation Store.
However, following IGN’s report, it would seem that Sony has taken aim at some of this shovelware and actually removed certain titles from their storefronts.
One game PS5 owners can look forward to is Ghost of Yōtei.
As Eurogamer’s Vikki Blake noted in their report, several games from a developer RandomSpin “including Supermarket Simulator Pro, Bodycam Shooter, and Backrooms Inside The Escape” have all been removed from the PlayStation Store, all of which allegedly used AI assets.

Although Sony seems to be aware of the problem now (or at least willing to tackle the issue now that they’ve been criticised for it), they clearly have their work cut out for them, because a quick browse through the PlayStation Store shows that hundreds of these “slop” titles are still available for pre-order and purchase.
This includes our old mate Anime Life Sim, although its days are assumedly numbered at this point.
Here’s hoping Nintendo gets the memo, otherwise a bunch of kids are going to get scammed out of their hard-earned pocket money once the Nintendo Switch 2 drops.
