One of the latest offerings on PlayStation Plus has caused a bit of division in the community, with some calling the game “boring” and others saying it’s “stunning”.
PlayStation Plus has been a bastion of free games, with many people picking up titles that they otherwise wouldn’t have bought.
It’s a good way of seeing if you’ll like a game without putting down a full sixty quid to check it out, and this month’s selection is a good example of this.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard released last October, with a rather mixed reaction from the Dragon Age community.
Despite scoring well with critics, earning an 82 on Metacritic, EA later stated the game had “underperformed” against expectations.

Now, Dragon Age: The Veilguard has made its way over to PlayStation Plus as one of the games available on the Essential tier for March. And it seems the reception is somewhat divided.
Over on Reddit, user binogamer21 asked for the community’s thoughts on The Veilguard.
“I am actually really enjoying it, I grew up with games like Gothic and Risen and it feels like a more premium version of them,” binogamer21 wrote. “Dialogue is hit or miss but graphics are beautiful, hair physics amazing. Gameplay is also pretty decent and seems to have good choices to make.”
Some players agreed, with one user saying it was “Better than the image I got from the flak it received.”

“I actually really like it I can’t even lie,” another wrote. “I was scared because of all the hate it gets but this is my 1st introduction to the series so that could be why, But I’m loving it!”
Others, however, aren’t as keen.
“As a DA fan, it doesn't feel like I'm playing a Dragon Age game,” wrote one comment. “I'm not loving that Rook can only agree with the companions, that my past games choices didn't matter and that I can only have 3 spells with a long cooldown between them.”
Another wrote: “I genuinely cannot believe BioWare released a game with such bad writing. Like I understand they've lost a lot of the talent that made them who they are, but still.”

Either way, those who enjoyed The Veilguard can hope the new players coming from PlayStation Plus can reinvigorate conversations about the game and breathe new life into it.
