If you weren’t aware, PlayStation is changing the terms of its PlayStation Stars service, the rewards program that offers points for purchases.
They’re scrapping points earned when paying for things like PlayStation Plus or any other subscription-based service.
Amazon Prime has created a love letter to gaming with Secret Level, out in December
If you’re not familiar with PlayStation Stars, the points could be redeemed against things like store credit on PSN, giving you little discounts on new games.

What’s perhaps more startling is that points will now expire much faster, so if you’ve been hoarding them, now’s the time to spend.
While the change isn’t set to come into effect until March 2025, it’s worth having a look on the PlayStation app to see what your balance is.
Of course, this change hasn’t gone down well on Reddit and players are urging each other to check their Stars balance to redeem any points they have.
“Saw the email and immediately redeemed 25 dollars. It's not the subscription purchases that are the problem, but points expiring which is the bigger issue.” This came from user profound-killah.

The original poster, give_me_two_beers replies, “Yeah that’s a scummy tactic. Virtual points simply should not expire.”
Redditor ruiner8850 says “Yeah, it's basically pointless for me now since they expire so quickly and the subscriptions don't count.”
Many of the users in the subreddit are recommending everyone check their app as soon as possible.
If you navigate to the little Stars icon you’ll see your balance and what you can potentially convert into store credit.

Blarg13 took the advice quickly, “Thank you for the heads up. Just redeemed 6,250 points for $25 psn.”
Many users are reporting that they had money just sitting there waiting to be claimed, like Brilliant-Badger8673 who said, “As soon as I learned this info, I immediately used the point to get $10 for my wallet because I don’t buy games all too often.”
