PlayStation gamers warned to claim their free store credit before Sony pulls it

PlayStation gamers warned to claim their free store credit before Sony pulls it

Do it before it's too late

The PlayStation community has been in a bit of a frenzy over the last 24 hours, as some believe the option to claim free store credit through the PlayStation Stars app is going away.

As I’m sure everyone is aware, any point you rack up through completing challenges or spending money on the PlayStation Store gets converted to points, which you can spend on digital collectables, free games, or store credit vouchers.

Sonic X Shadow Generations launches tomorrow! Check out the trailer below.

For instance, there are some awesome Silent Hill 2 digital collectables to claim now if you’re so inclined, and with enough points. you can even claim Astro Bot as a freebie, but you’ll need loads to make that happen.

Back to the matter at hand though, some users have reported that the PlayStation Stars app is no longer giving them the option to grab in-store credit as a reward.

Multiple Reddit threads have reported this problem, leading some to take drastic measures and cash out their points asap, “just in case.”

Some users in the UK have reported the options have changed, as it’s now only offering 2,500 points for £10 of in-store credit. Previously, players could nab £5 with 1,250 points.

Other threads have reported the same issue, with one surprised gamer saying, “I don’t have the wallet money option anymore.”

Some users have even taken it as a sign the PlayStation Stars app is beyond saving, saying, “It's clear more than ever that this programme's days are numbered.”

Why this has happened and what’s to blame is anyone’s guess, though it could be that PlayStation is simply making it harder to earn store credit, or there’s a technical error in the app.

Hopefully, the option returns later this week or month, though in all likelihood, the app will remain unchanged and the only option you’ll have is for £10/$10, if that.
