Despite the PlayStation 5 Pro still being a new product, all we ever seem to talk about is the PS6.
There’s something about that next-gen console that has our tongues wagging.
Yet, if we take a step back from all the gossip we’d realise that Sony has already confirmed the PS7 before we’ve even seen its predecessor.

Sony has done this in subtle ways, however, that doesn’t negate the confirmation.

In September 2023, we reported on how Sony had trademarked not just the PS6 but the PS7, PS8, PS9, and PS10.
Our second piece of evidence is the fact that PlayStation’s CEO, Hideaki Nishino, has addressed the growing concerns that consoles will become obsolete.
With Xbox having just announced a major update that’ll leave consoles behind, such worries aren’t unfounded.
However, while finding new avenues to bring gaming to the masses is still the aim, Hideaki has said that consoles will still “be the core of our business for a while”.
Much change is taking place within the video games industry. Still, despite it already being underway, traditional aspects are integral to its future.

At least for now.
Some believe that with Sony’s forward thinking, alongside its promise to keep developing new consoles (at least for now), it’ll soon monopolise the industry.
“With Xbox essentially bowing out, I expect PlayStation to take much of their audience. It's going to be more monopolistic than ever, but console will be stronger under a single banner,” social media user @GameReaper187 remarked.
It isn’t just the way Xbox is “bowing out” of the console game that keeps PlayStation's hardware ticking over – it’s the fact that PC gaming isn’t accessible to everyone.

“They will always have a place because not everyone is going to want to buy the latest gaming PC,” argued @MrSandDan.
And thank goodness because someone needs to be around to purchase that PS7.
