Chatter regarding the PlayStation 6 is starting to build up steam as many begin to look toward the future of the brand.
While we may have only just got the PlayStation 5 Pro, and many would argue there’s still life left in this generation of consoles, some are already discussing the next Sony console.
We're already talking about PlayStation 6 despite the recent PS5 Pro release
Some fans believe we will officially see the console released in 2028, and this is backed up by a surprising source - Microsoft.

In court documents from 2023, Microsoft set the window for the next Sony console as 2028, using their expert analysis.
It’s no shock that Microsoft would have eyes and ears on the goings-on at Sony, as they have to act and react to the industry as it moves forward.
In the FTC court filings, relating to the Activision purchase and 10-year deal for Call of Duty, the next consoles got a small mention.
Microsoft lawyers stated that the 10-year deal for the franchise would overlap with the next generation of console, marking them for release in 2028.

This comes with the direct knowledge that Microsoft themselves are earmarking that year for their own console, which would mean Sony could react and match that date.
Representation of Microsoft noted, “Indeed, the next new generation of consoles are not expected to be released before the fall of 2028 at the very earliest.”
This is, of course, speculation on Microsoft’s part, as it’s unlikely they know anything more official.
However, with so many sources believing that Sony has already earmarked components for their PS6 chipset from AMD, and with the average console generation lasting around eight years, 2028 could indeed be the year.

Whether you believe that’s too early or not, it won’t stop technology marching forwards and revolutionising games as we play them in the coming years.
