Speculation is always rife when it comes to new consoles and their pricing. We had a fair amount of it on the run-up to the PlayStation 5 Pro being announced.
It’s a big factor for many, especially as technology and its hardware increase in cost price which is then translated to consumer price points.

Following the recent release of price information on the aforementioned PlayStation 5 Pro, gamers on Reddit are wondering how much we’ll have to fork over for the PlayStation 6.

In a new thread on the message board, one user posted, “Do you realistically think that the PS5 Pro price will affect the PS6 price?”
Their post starts out, “Indeed, the PS5 Pro's price is outrageous. It's reassuring to see a strong response against it,” and continues, “As for the PS6, there's a real concern that it might be priced at or above $800.”
The price guessed here isn’t a bad attempt at predicting the future, especially as the technology jump is sure to be vast - that’s if cloud gaming doesn’t become the standard.
Replies are, of course, all over the place, but most are wary of the pricing spikes we’re seeing.

Redditor rostron92 comments, “The PS5 Pro is built specifically for those who will pay the most for new technology, which isn't a large audience. Presumably, the PS6 will try and cater to a wider audience, and if they put out an 800-dollar console to the masses, I can promise you they will not buy it.”
Another user sums it up simply, “It's all gonna depend on how well this sells.”
The worry is that what’s inside the PS6 takes advantage of new technology and the costs of putting it together sky-rocket.
However, as one user says, “What people don't understand is that a $500 console in 2028 is way more powerful than a $700 console from 2024.”

Our money’s value will change greatly, but you can be sure that Sony will push boundaries and leap hurdles and that cost will come down to us.
