PlayStation 6 price already has gamers seriously concerned

At what cost?

Following the recent reveal of the PlayStation 5 Pro, fans are now concerned about what the next-gen PS6 might cost.

It’s fair to say that for most gamers (and understandably so), the announcement of the PlayStation 5 Pro went down as well as a bricked console sinking to the bottom of the ocean. The main problem for many with the PS5 Pro is the cost.

Check out the PS5 Pro reveal trailer below!

Sure, the PlayStation 5 Pro boasts an increased GPU of 67% and renders games 45% times faster with improved ray tracing, and other bells and whistles.

However, the entry point of £699.99/$699.99 crosses the line for some, and that’s not even considering how much Sony is stinging the likes of the UK, EU and Canada when compared to the US currency conversion.

Then when you consider that the £699.99 console doesn't even include a disc drive and vertical stand, questions have to be asked. If you want the PS5 Pro with everything you need, it will cost you an additional £99.99 ($79.99 in the US) for the disc drive and £24.99 for the vertical stand, bringing the total to a whopping £824.97.

Now the question has to be asked, if the PlayStation 5 Pro costs this much at launch, how much can we expect to pay for the PS6? Gamers on Twitter have been discussing that posing question.

“Oh hell yeah, bring on that $1000 video game console, the world is ready.” tweeted UltimaShadowX sharing a story from Push Square regarding the PS6 already being in development.

“Fun fact, the PS5 Pro is already over $1K in Canada (with the stand and disk drive included), and that’s not even accounting for tax, which would put it at around $1.2K,” replied FranDarkstar.

“$1,000. Disc drive, stand, cables and controllers are all sold separately. 500GB of storage (don't worry, 200GB will be used on the system, so you'll only have around 300GB in actuality) and no new games on launch,” jokes renegaderelic0 about the potential cost of the PS6.

“Backwards compatibility but you have to pay $70 for every game you try to play no matter how old it is,” said Dusclod in jest.

We have no idea just how much the PlayStation 6 will cost at launch, that’s assuming the stock isn't claimed by scalpers for months on end. Either way, if you can, it might be worth to start saving right now.

The PlayStation 5 Pro launches on 7 November 2024.
