September certainly has been a chaotic ol’ month for PlayStation.
While we all sensed that Concord would be dead on arrival, we didn’t exactly think it would completely cease to exist quite that quickly.
PlayStation’s fortune then turned around thanks to the critically-acclaimed masterpiece that is Astro Bot.

But, of course, the bad press returned following the reveal of the PlayStation 5 Pro which, if you hadn’t heard, will set you back a small fortune.
If you want to benefit from improved ray-tracing, the addition of AI-driven upscaling, and a better GPU, you’ll have to fork out £699.99 - and that’s only for a digital console.
Expect to pay a further £99.99 for a disc drive and £24.99 for a vertical stand.
If, like me, you’re happy with your base console PlayStation 5 then you may be pleased to discover that a new system update has just landed this morning - and I’m here to guide you through its features.

Take a look at the aforementioned Astro Bot in action below.
The update will introduce a new welcome hub which features customisable widgets, finally allowing PS5 users to personalise their home screen experience.
Those widgets can allow you to check battery levels, view online friends, view trophies, and much more.

You can also now change the background of the welcome hub, including selecting from your own in-game screenshots - bringing back a beloved PS4 feature.
This will roll out globally across the next few weeks with the first batch of users, those in the US, gaining access today.
Party share will soon allow you to share party voice chat links on messaging and social media apps - and this will also roll out in the coming weeks.
Personalised 3D audio profiles for headphones and earbuds are available worldwide as of today after previously being a beta feature.

You can also now adjust remote play settings per user and choose who is allowed to connect to your PS5 console using Remote Play.
You may recall a few months ago that adaptive charging was also introduced as a beta feature.
Well, that too is now available worldwide so your DualSense should charge far more effectively, improving its battery life.
You can view the full patch notes over on the PlayStation blog.
