PlayStation celebrating 30th anniversary with free classic games

Certified bangers

PlayStation has been doing it all can to celebrate 30 years in the console industry, not only with the gorgeous PlayStation 5 Pro console modelled after the OG PlayStation.

Announced yesterday, PlayStation Plus users can get their hands on some certified bangers from PlayStation’s history.

PlayStation 5 Pro is here and will improve the visuals of your favourite games

Headlining the action on PlayStation Plus are two brilliant 3D platformers that always deserve more players - Sly 2: Band of Thieves and Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves.

I’ve always been a champion of the Sly Cooper games, which were overshadowed greatly by the likes of Crash Bandicoot, Jak and Daxter, and Ratchet and Clank.

What could be better than playing as a thriving racoon with a love of jewels and treasure?

I should really mention that one of those 3D rivals is also being celebrated by PlayStation, as Jak and Daxter drops onto the subscription service, too.

It’s a great time to revisit the genre that consoles like the PlayStation 2 really pushed.

Some would say that Sony’s second console did great things for 3D platforming with so many available.

Now it’s your chance to catch up on these classics, whether you’ve played them before or are new to them.

Each of these games are ready to download and play for free right now, all you need is a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription.

I’d recommend getting some time with Sly Cooper.

Yes, some of what plays out in these games is similar to others, but it did include a lot of intelligent stealth sections and a great us of traps.

Plus, the series has some truly terrific characters who check in with Sly’s adventures.

Imagine the athletic abilities of Jak mixed with the heist and treasure hunting of a Nathan Drake, and you’re on the right path.

Why not celebrate PlayStation with these excellent games? There are worse ways to spend your time.
