If you’re a Minecraft lover but a PlayStation 5 haver, then you may be happy to learn that that is now a viable combination as the much-loved game has now arrived on the next-gen console.

That’s right, as of yesterday, Minecraft has officially arrived to the PlayStation 5 with the native version “optimised to take advantage of the [console’s] powerful hardware”.

That means that the game will have an even greater render distance whilst still running in 4K resolution and 60FPS.

Check out the announcement trailer for Minecraft Legends below!

In even more exciting news, for players who own the Minecraft: Bedrock Edition for the PlayStation 4, you will be able to grab Minecraft for the PS5 for absolutely free.

This can be done by heading to the PS Store on PS5 and claiming your digital copy. If you own the physical edition of Bedrock, you will have to enter the disc.

Furthermore, crossplay is also available for PS5 users and those who own the Minecraft: Bedrock Edition so you can take on this brand-new mode together.

Those who already own the game can now try out Minecraft’s Bundles of Bravery.

This sees players now able to take advantage of bundles - items that allow you to store other items in - but also “experience the thrills (and spills) of Hardcore mode for the first time!”

Described as the “toughest survival challenge Minecraft has to offer”, Hardcore mode will see players experience the much-loved game at the highest setting.

That means that you only have one life and if you die, there is no respawning.

So if you get overwhelmed by creepers, fall off a cliff or don’t take care of your health, your run is over and you must start from scratch.

Players received this new update with excitement, even more so when they learned that PS4 saves carry over and transferring worlds is much easier.

So all in all, a great update from the Minecraft team.
