God of War Ragnarök just dropped a surprise free PS5 update

It's time to prevent the end of the world

Those diving into God of War Ragnarök for the first time since it arrived on PlayStation Plus are in for another surprise as its developers just released an unexpected update.

Added to the PlayStation Plus library earlier this month, God of War Ragnarök is back in the spotlight since it was first released back in 2022.

Check out the official story trailer for God of War Ragnarök below!

As the sequel to 2018’s God of War, Ragnarök returns players to Midgard as Kratos and Atreus fight to prevent the end of the world, all whilst dealing with their own pressing concerns.

With the title now available for free for millions of gamers, it is perhaps no wonder that Santa Monica Studio has revealed a brand-new patch for Ragnarök on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC.

Released just yesterday, the patch offers a series of updates as well as the standard quality-of-life changes and bug fixes.

As well as updates to the Edit Appearance Feature, which will no longer require players to fully upgrade their gear to level 9 to transmog it, the Black Bear armour set has also received some changes.

This means that PS4 and PS5 users will receive access to the armour set via the first available Lost Items chest in-game. This will also be possible without needing to start a NG+ save.

Not only that but signing into an PSN account whilst playing God of War Ragnarök on PC will reward you with a resource bundle which includes 500 Hacksilver and 250xp alongside the Black Bear armour set.

Perhaps the most useful feature in this update is that players will no longer have to sign into the PlayStation Network to play God of War Ragnarök on PC. Instead, it is now optional.

Hallelujah.

Despite no sign of a God of War 6, this will be the perfect opportunity to try out the award-winning game, especially if you just so happen to be a PS Plus member.
