Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth major free update released

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth major free update released

Don't worry if you didn't pre-order a PS5 Pro, as patch 1.050 has a little something in it for everyone

Square Enix has just dropped a brand new patch for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but don’t worry if you don’t already own a PlayStation 5 Pro - as it does contain a few extra goodies for those on standard PS5 hardware.

The developer announced the new patch on Twitter yesterday, alongside the patch itself.

The Tweet reads: “This update contains fixes for some bugs and improvements in functionality and stability while also implementing "Versatility Mode", offering a new experience for all PlayStation 5 Pro players from launch on Thursday.”

They also shared some in-game screenshots of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on the new PlayStation 5 Pro hardware, and I gotta say those are some high-definition feathers on those Chocobos.

Although they haven’t shared the official patch notes for the game anywhere online, Michael Harradence over on PSU has compiled the full list of what Final Fantasy VII Rebirth players can expect once they download it.

The main draw is the new PlayStation 5 Pro Versatility Mode, which is described as offering an "Optimized gameplay mode tailored for PS5 Pro players" that will be "Available from launch, enhancing visual quality and performance on PS5 Pro hardware".

If you don’t have a PlayStation 5 Pro on the way however, there’s still a little something here for those who own a standard or Slim PlayStation 5 model.

The patch promises "Enhanced stability across platforms" alongside "General improvements in game functionality for smoother performance".

There are also some more general fixes included too, as the patch specified that “several minor bugs” have been fixed in a bid “to improve overall gameplay experience”.

No word on exactly which bugs or issues are being targeted, as the patch notes are pretty vague, so we’ll have to wait on further word from Square Enix to see what’s been fixed with patch 1.050.
