If Ballad of Antara isn’t already a game you’ve got your eye on, then I seriously suggest you go about changing that.
Ever since it was announced, it’s been one that I’ve been eagerly awaiting.
Ballad of Antara is perhaps best described as a blending of Elden Ring’s rich fantastical world with Ghost of Tsushima’s combat accessibility.

Perhaps most exciting of all though is the fact that this action RPG will be totally free upon release.
Previously announced during a State of Play, Infold Games has now released the first gameplay trailer for the project - granting us a juicy 14-minute look at what’s to come.
The game exists across two planes of the same world. There’s the ‘normal’ world and the ‘Para’ version.
In the Para world, essences of the living world are trapped following the invasion of these lands by an ancient power.

You’ll get to play as multiple different characters, each with their own class-related abilities, as you explore these lands and try to restore peace and order.
Take a look at Ballad of Antara in action below.
So yes, Ballad of Antara centres around a thrilling single-player narrative but if you do want to hang out with friends, there is multiplayer support where you can recruit three others.

In multiplayer, you can continue to tackle quests, dungeons, or simply just explore.
The game has been in the works for four years and is targeting a 2025 release, with developers set to add new zones and story expansions post-launch.
It’s been created in Unreal Engine 5 so looks simply gorgeous and the combat, as seen in the latest deep dive, looks promising.
The fights seem to show a reliance on close-quarters combat, so prepare to do your fair share of parrying and dodging.

If you’re struggling, don’t forget you’ll be able to call in a friend.
And you can seemingly change between classes/characters freely, with each character having their own separate health bar which bodes well for tougher scrapes.
All in all, this is shaping up to be an exciting new IP.
