Dino Crisis is a series that Capcom has seemingly forgotten about over the years, that was until now.
Yesterday’s State of Play event was a packed 30 minutes with new announcements such as the Ghost of Tsushima sequel, a remastered collection of The Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver and confirmation of the Horizon Zero Dawn remaster and much more.

One other announcement that was met with a lot of excitement is that Capcom’s Dino Crisis is coming to PlayStation Plus Classics next month alongside Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain. The original Dino Crisis was released in 1999 for the PlayStation and is widely considered to be Resident Evil with dinosaurs.

Dino Crisis has all the elements that fans of the survival horror genre love such as challenging enemies, brain-teasing puzzles, and scarce resources with the added fear of being attacked by a T-Rex and a pack of Raptors.
While its sequel that arrived the following year was the beginning of the series evolving into action over horror, the original Dino Crisis is still looked upon favourably after all this time.
Granted, this might not be the Dino Crisis remake that fans have longed for, but the fact that we’ll get to play this Capcom classic in glorious HD on modern PlayStation consoles is wonderful. Being somewhat over-optimistic, this could be Capcom testing the waters for the highly requested remake.
As expected, fans such as myself are over the moon that we’ll soon be able to play classic Dino Crisis on PS5 and PS4. “Dino Crisis, finally!” exclaimed Redditor srb15.

“This is big. Capcom actually doing something with one of its PS1 games is huge. Hopefully, this means RE2 and RE3 are possible as well as also Dino Crisis 2,” said a hopeful Believe0017.
“We need a Dino Crisis remake and Parasite Eve” declared NightSimple2662. Parasite Eve in particular is a great shout. This Square Enix RPG which can be described as Resident Evil meets Final Fantasy was never released outside Japan and North America.
It’s worth noting that if you had previously purchased either Dino Crisis or Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain digitally via the PS Store on PS3, they will be available at no cost even if you don't have a PS Plus subscription.
Dino Crisis will be available on Tuesday, 15 October 2024 for those who subscribe to the PlayStation Plus Premium tier.
