Cyberpunk 2077 fans heartbroken by latest update

Cyberpunk 2077 fans heartbroken by latest update

It does make sense

It is a sad day for Cyberpunk 2077 fans as, despite the news that CD Projekt Red was ceasing development on the RPG, we were hoping they might make an exception for the latest release.

We are approaching the four-year anniversary of Cyberpunk 2077 and it has been an eventful four years to say the least.

Check out the trailer for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty below!

Launching in a disappointing state with bugs and glitches galore, over the course of the last couple of years, CD Projekt Red has been working hard on bringing its RPG to the incredible state it is found in today.

Thanks to regular updates, patches and its award-nominated Phantom Liberty expansion, Cyberpunk 2077 is now considered one of the best in the genre which makes this latest update all the more disappointing.

With Sony’s latest console, the PlayStation 5 Pro now out in the world and offering a lot more power than its base model, studios are regularly releasing patches to support the new release.

This has been seen with games such as The Last of Us Part II and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 but according to a recent statement by CDPR, Cyberpunk 2077 will not be following suit.

In response to a fan asking, “PS5 Pro patch and Black Friday sale so I can buy this game for the 3rd time?”

The official Cyberpunk 2077 account replied: “We currently have no plans for a PS5 Pro patch.”

Although this is sad news, it is worth noting that the game is already in an incredible state and already runs at 60FPS on the PlayStation 5.

After all, the game has only been out for four years and is nowhere near desperate for a remaster.

However, fans still took to r/cyberpunkgame to share their thoughts about the news.

“Not at all surprising.

They’ve moved onto their next games and are just offering bare minimum support here,” the top comment read.

Another said: “Good, why waste a team's time on a novelty product? Better to focus on upcoming projects.”

That is definitely what CDPR is doing with the developers being hard at work on both Cyberpunk 2 and The Witcher 4.

I, for one, am glad that it is turning its attention to the future and not releasing a patch that is not needed in the slightest.
