This Red Dead Redemption 2 graphics overhaul is so gorgeous, the popular Western could pass as a PlayStation 6 game.
Released in 2018 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (before arriving on PC the following year), Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the best-looking games you’ll ever play, even when being played on last-gen consoles.

“America, 1899. Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are outlaws on the run. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive,” reads the synopsis of the popular Rockstar Games title.

Sadly, while Red Dead Redemption 2 is backwards compatible with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, it has not received a new-gen update. However, the Xbox version can at least be played in a native 4K compared to the 1080p on PlayStation.
That being said, if you’re a PC gamer with a capable system, you can take advantage of mods which make Red Dead Redemption 2 look and perform like the next-gen game it deserves to be.
As brought to our attention by TweakTown, the YouTube channel Digital Dreams has showcased Red Dead Redemption 2 taking advantage of the Vestigia mod via NexusMods user no12mods, powered by an NVIDIA RTX 4090 graphics card.
Simply put, Red Dead Redemption 2 has arguably never looked better at a super-crisp 8K resolution and 60 frames-per-second.

The Vestigia mod has also benefited from Update 1.3 which improves the HDR compatibility as well as weather effects such as rain and snow looking even more dynamic than they already were in Rockstar Games’ wonderfully crafted Wild West world.
Of course, you will need a beast PC to run Red Dead Redemption 2 to this level but if your system is capable, you can get to see what this critically acclaimed game could look like if it were released on PlayStation 6.
