Red Dead Redemption 2 just got a seriously impressive overhaul

As if I needed any more reason to replay RDR2...

This new Red Dead Redemption II overhaul is taking aim at the game’s combat, in a bid to make its gunfights more “varied, dynamic, and engaging”.

I just want to preface what I’m about to say with a quick disclaimer: I love Red Dead Redemption II.

I could be here all day waffling on about how I think it’s Rockstar Games’ greatest achievement, but there is one small issue with the game… the shooting part kinda sucks.

Maybe I’ve just been spoiled by other third-person shooters, and perhaps it’s asking a lot of a game like Red Dead Redemption II to have third-person gunfights be on the same level as stuff like Resident Evil 4 or The Last of Us, but that doesn’t make it any less true.

That’s why I’m excited to try out a new Red Dead Redemption II mod (as spotted by DSOG's John Papadopoulos) that’s gaining a lot of positive traction online: Ped Damage Overhaul Reloaded, by Nexus Mods author Starkweather43.

Now some of you might be familiar with the original version of this mod, Ped Damage Overhaul. The new version is promising to be an updated version of the original, by introducing “important bug fixes and some additional features.”

And, well, the comments on Nexus Mods should speak for themselves.

“Dude...I never comment on anything. I am basically a user of Nexus and I apologize for never giving props to anyone… this right here… this is the best mod I have ever seen for RDR2”, commented user NICHOLASJosephEANNELLI1985.

“I have a LOT of them and I did not think my game could really improve anymore. But this brought a HUGE smile to my face. In conjunction with my euphoria this takes gunfights to whole other level. Like I said, I don't comment, but this is spectacular.”

“the fixes you made just works perfect. its doesnt make npc go down one shot on leg on high damage and still dismemberment works as normally either”, writes user great job songgod45.

I can’t say I’ve seen a mod as widely praised as this in a while, and it seems like Starkweather43 is doing a good job with keeping up with the player feedback, too.

Ugh, fine. I’ll replay through all of Red Dead Redemption II again.
