If you’re a Red Dead Redemption 2 player who celebrates Christmas, this new free download is just what you need to rein in the holidays.

Christmas always feels special in a Rockstar game. The developer usually marks the occasion with some nice freebies, and players usually get their holiday spirit on.

In GTA Online, the Los Santos map is usually covered in snow during Christmas.

With GTA VI coming next year, this winter will probably be the last time that happens.

Speaking of GTA, let's revisit that GTA VI trailer one more time shall we?

While we’re waiting for that to happen, Red Dead Redemption 2 is the best thing to tide us over until then, and a new free download for the game might be the best thing for it.

Over on Nexus Mods, a new mod called ‘Christmas at Beecher’s’ adorns Beecher’s Hope with some new holiday decorations.

The mod adds a Christmas tree, some lights, presents, and wreaths to John Marston’s home, sprucing the place up with a little Christmas cheer.

Rather humorously, it also adds a chest full of coal to Jack’s room. Whether or not he deserves that is up to you to decide.

Spoilers, obviously, but you won’t be able to use this mod until you hit the endgame and unlock Beecher’s Hope as your player home.

I should also state that this is for PC only, as that is the only platform with the capabilities to allow players to mod their games.

So if you’re on PlayStation or Xbox, you’re out of luck I’m afraid. You'll have to wait and see if Rockstar does anything similar to mark the occasion.

Players can grab some free items when playing the game over the Christmas break though, which seems to be how Rockstar is celebrating the holidays in Red Dead this year.

If you join a game of Red Dead Online between 24th December and 30th December, you’ll receive the green Torranca Coat as a reward.

While it’s not quite as exciting as what GTA Online gets over the holidays, at least Rockstar are acknowledging it, right?
