When it comes to modding, not everyone is comfortable with changing key aspects of the game and would rather stick to the occasional cosmetic download.
That is the case for this mod which aims to give one race a cosmetic overhaul for the Mass Effect Trilogy.
Check out the launch trailer for Mass Effect 2 below!
The Children of Rannoch mod “completely overhauls Quarians for the entire trilogy and is inspired by the official concept art, Angara and Na’vi” according to creators mithran 56 and naNuke.

The creators have included a disclaimer that this mod is “not lore-friendly” and “will not be to everyone’s taste”, however, a recent post over on r/masseffect reveals that this free download is actually a hit with Mass Effect fans.
“I'm a little obsessed with the Children of Rannoch mod,” one post read.
“Tali looks so beautiful, I can't stop looking at her.”
The post was accompanied by a series of screenshots showing off our new-look Tali and it is safe to say that she looks a lot different to what we are used to.
“It does look really good,” the first comment read.

“Last time I checked, the modder has made it for ME1 and ME2, I'm waiting for them to bring it out for ME3 as well so I can do a whole trilogy run with it on.”
That is indeed correct as the mod creators are now working on the mod for Mass Effect 3 but those interested in it can download it to the first two games in the trilogy right now.
“I like this look a lot better than humans with a few lines on their face,” another comment read.
Altogether, Children of Rannoch adds a new mesh for Tali’s head as well as Quarian heads in general.

There is also a new mesh for Tali’s suit and new, upscaled and corrected textures for the affected suits.
The helmet can be toggled on and off and the visor can be customised to be transparent.
Overall, these are small changes but make quite a difference to a much-loved characters’ appearance.
