With modern technology getting better and better, creators are revisiting older titles in the hopes of remastering them and bringing them up to the visual fidelity we see nowadays with the advent of things like ray tracing.
Far Cry players can enjoy this latest overhaul with Far Cry 4: Redux: a PC mod focused on “immersion” and “improving the original game”. This is mod is part of a ‘Redux’ series from a creator who is focused on revisiting each game from the Far Cry series.
Far Cry 6 was another great instalment in the long-running franchise.
Far Cry 4: Redux aims to “overhaul the gameplay, fix bugs, and streamline the experience for repeat players”. From what we can see of screenshots from the project, the game is looking gorgeous and certainly feels more modern compared to its release 10 years ago.

Far Cry 4, while still seeing success for Ubisoft, was a tricky release as it came hot on the heels of a fan favourite. Set in a fictional Himalayan country of Kyrat, players took on the role of Ajay Ghale who gets caught up in the civil war taken over the country. It is up to you to explore the countryside and villages looking for a foothold in order to lead a fight against the tyrannical ruler, Pagan Min.
The game was well received by critics who praised the open world structure, however some didn’t enjoy the repetition and found the game to be a little stagnant. This mod hopes to improve some of those complaints, but it does keep the great foundation seen in the original game.
It seems the mod has been welcomed by many players as reviews on Moddb read, “Tweaked the game PERFECTLY to my liking”, and, “This mod made the game a lot more enjoyable.” If you’re a fan, it’s worth a try.
