The Fallout series is one of the most popular RPG franchises in the video game industry and whether it's older classics or something a bit more recent, fans cannot get enough.
When the series made its debut on PC in 1997, it was played in a trimetric perspective unlike today where players have the choice of playing modern Fallout games in either first or third-person. Yet, as good as modern Fallout games are, sometimes we like to play some of its retro classics.

When Bethesda Softworks acquired the rights to the Fallout franchise from Interplay Productions in 2004, the series moved away from the trimetric perspective with Fallout 3 released in 2008.

However, as reported by Gfinity Esports, developed by Black Isle Studios, a trimetric Fallout 3 was in the works rather than the first/third-person game that was eventually released.
As you might expect, this original version of Fallout 3 is probably lost somewhere on a floppy disc in an abandoned office block infested with radioactive ghouls. Thankfully, as always, the talented modding community has us covered.
Available to download now for free via Nexusmods, created by PJHexer, you can play a mod for Fallout 2 that brings the original vision of Fallout 3 to life. This mod introduces new story missions, three playable races, 20 companions and much more.
The modder also claims that the world map is five times bigger than the original Fallout 2. In the future, new translations, voiceovers as well as 3D cinematics are also promised.

Sadly, considering that Fallout 2 was only ever released on PC, this mod that brings the original vision of Fallout 3 to life is not available on consoles. That being said, we can still enjoy every game in the series from Fallout 3 (2008) with an Xbox Game Pass subscription.
