A controversial expansion for Elden Ring is making PC users very angry, mainly because you have to pay for it.
While fans wait for the official FromSoftware expansion for Elden Ring, called Shadow Of The Erdtree, they’ll have to make do with either replaying the game for the umpteenth time, or take a trip to the wonderful world of mods.

However one expansion mod for Elden Ring has caused a fair bit of controversy. It’s called Elden Ring: Garden Of Eyes, and it adds a wide variety of new content to the game, including weapon and armour sets, areas, Bloodborne-style gun parrying and more. It sounds incredible but the only problem is it’s not free. Garden Of Eyes is a paid mod available through Patreon and it’s causing quite the stir amongst PC users.

Speaking in a Reddit post, one player said "I don't get the hype around the mod so much. I mean sure, credits and props to the creators of it but it feels... Like too much. So many of the weapons just feel so excessive, in a game where you play as a Tarnished of no renown I don't think you should be able to wield the full force of the galaxy.”
The mod was compared to another fan-made Elden Ring expansion, Convergence, which adds almost as much content but it’s completely free.
One player said “Can't say much but yes I agree, and the best part about Convergence is it’s free.”
Another added “I don't mind mods doing some OTT stuff, but I do mind when mods are just fully paywalled.”

Finally one player straight-up pleaded “Please don't support ‘Garden of Scams.’ You'll regret it. Support modders like Cleverraptor, Hotbike, Sykke and many more on Nexus.”
If you’re looking for an expansion for your Elden Ring game before Shadow Of The Erdtree launches, maybe give Garden Of Eyes a miss and go for something free on NexusMods instead.
