If you’re a PC gamer, you often get a chance to snag some great games for free. This is certainly the case when it comes to CD Projekt Red’s game store, GOG.com, which often gives away a wealth of great games both modern and retro.
At the moment, GOG is offering a whole host of titles for absolutely nothing. All you need to do is head over to the ‘free games’ page and you’ll find plenty to choose from, as well as some bonus content like soundtracks and preview builds.
The Witcher 3 is easily one of CD Projekt Red's most popular games
Of course, this being a website owned by CD Projekt Red, you can find Gwent on here, the card game made famous in The Witcher 3 and released as its own project. If RPGs are your thing, then GOG will spoil you with some classic Elder Scrolls games like the second game in the franchise, Daggerfall. Perfect for those wanting more lore from the world of Tamriel.
Advert
Being a retro PC outlet, you’ll find a number of adventure games and point-and-click titles from years gone by. If you’re out for an absolute classic, then can I point you to Beneath a Steel Sky, which was heavily influential on a number of modern games and still holds up today. I’d be remiss for not pointing out the kooky puzzler Samorost, which is both beautiful and fiendish, and it will keep you scratching your head long after it ends.
Lastly, you can find a gorgeous visual novel, Symphonia, in this selection. It’s offered here as a student project, but it went on to hold the attention of thousands and win several awards. Here to play in its original state, for free.
Once you’ve dived into some of these classics, remember that GOG regularly holds sales where you can find some older gems, or relive your youth through gaming.
