A brand new mod for Cyberpunk 2077 is already a big hit with the community, and it’s so good that it’s even managed to get the attention of CD Projekt RED themselves.
“Realistic Map” is (as the name might imply) a new mod from author SvenVH that completely overhauls Cyberpunk 2077’s in-game map.
That might not sound too mind-blowing on paper, but once you take a look at the video that the mod author posted on YouTube, you’ll probably be able to figure out why this is so impressive.

As SvenVH explains, the mod “replaces the default map with a High-Res 2D render texture of the actual map” - and it’s available in 4k, 8k, 16k and even 32k (if your poor PC can handle that).
Depending on your specs though, it seems the 32k version shouldn’t increase your load times by too much - according to this comment from one of Nexus’ users.
“This is absolutely stunning!” commented user Mikester2017, “Thanks so much for taking the time to make this awesome mod. I tried the 32k version, it has a two sec loading time which is great! The level of detail...damn. Just wandering around, looking at the map I had flashbacks of the missions and side-quests.”
Also, the Realistic Map mod seems to be SvenVH’s first mod. Pretty impressive debut, so I’ll be watching this guy’s career with great interest from this point onwards.

ICYMI: Indiana Jones and the Great Circle launches next week.
If you’re thinking this looks way too impressive to be real, there’s a good reason for that. The map in question is actually from Piggyback’s Interactive Map (the folks who are responsible for the official Cyberpunk 2077 guidebooks).
In a Twitter post from user @Ayghan raving about how good the mod is, one of CD Projekt RED’s biggest names popped up to join in on the praise.
“Banger mod, very cool!” commented Paweł Sasko, in reply to Ayghan’s post.

Paweł Sasko is CD Projekt RED’s associate game director by the way, who worked on both The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 as lead quest designer.
Is there any higher honour for a mod author than being complimented by the developer of the game you’re modding?
