Out of nowhere, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag just got yet another significant update on PC. Where the heck did that come from?
Right now, I imagine most Assassin’s Creed fans are patiently waiting to dive in to Codename Jade’s closed beta test. In case you were unaware, the gorgeous, free upcoming mobile title is set in ancient China. With a huge open world to explore, a whole new story to uncover, and the ability to completely customise your character, it’s genuinely shaping up to be fantastic, and players can experience it via the closed beta from 3 August.
Take a look at the trailer for Assassin’s Creed: Codename Jade below.
Preparations for Codename Jade’s beta clearly haven’t distracted Ubisoft from keeping a watchful eye over all its other Assassin’s Creed titles, though, as the decade-old Black Flag just got a crucial bug fix on PC. As highlighted by Ghost_LeaderBG on the r/assassinscreed subreddit, the 1.08 update, which has been rolled out on both Steam and Ubisoft Connect, seems to have completely resolved a seriously annoying issue that numerous players were facing, where the game could only be launched in windowed mode. Depending on whether you're on Steam or Ubisoft Connect, the patch is either 12 or 13MB, so blink and you could miss the download altogether. If you were planning on revisiting Black Flag on PC any time soon, definitely make sure that you have it downloaded.
Advert
Speaking of Black Flag, it was recently claimed by insiders that a new-gen remake of the 2013 game is in the works at Ubisoft Singapore. However, it’s reported that the remake is in its “earliest stages”, and won’t be completed for several years, so even if it’s true, we probably shouldn’t expect to see a trailer for it any time soon.
Ubisoft is yet to confirm if the remake rumours are true.
