Payday 3 has reportedly forced players to wait in server queues for up to 20 minutes, just to play by themselves.
Despite being a multiplayer first-person-shooter by nature, some Payday players prefer to play alone, or at least are happy to do so when their squad aren’t around.

Unfortunately, the latest game, Payday 3, is being slated on Steam, as users are finding themselves waiting several minutes in server queues despite just wanting to play the game alone.

Payday 3 is an “always-online” game, meaning whether you’re playing with a group of friends/strangers, or heisting by yourself, you’ll always need to be connected to the internet in order to access the game’s servers.
This isn’t new for online games, but it is frustrating, and it’s taking its toll on Payday 3’s reputation. Common problems with the solo-queuing range from being stuck in the server queue for an unreasonable amount of time, being disconnected before entering a heist, or suffering from lag and/or disconnects once you’re actually in.
Taking a peak at the Steam reviews shows the game currently sitting at Mostly Negative, with many criticising how the game requires an online connection even for solo games.
“Matchmaking for 20 minutes for solo play!!"

“Always online even for solo players is disgusting.”
"No offline mode is a real bummer for us solo players. Queues and lag just to play by yourself is lame."
It’s a shame because as a Payday game, it’s reportedly quite good. Long-time fans of the series have praised its gameplay, heists and customisation options, but can’t ignore the problems the online-only format is having on the game.
At the time of writing, the game’s developer Starbreeze Studios, hasn’t said anything about a patch or update to fix the server issues.
