The wild, wild west of Red Dead Redemption meets the calm, civilised non-descript life of Stardew Valley, in a new “Cozy Cowboy Adventure Life Sim” on the Nintendo Switch.
Cattle Country is the type of game I never knew I wanted to play until I saw that it exists. It’s a farming sim, where you’ll spend your days wrangling cows and planting crops, like any other Harvest Moon-esque title.
Except… you can also shoot and murder people in Cattle Country. Alright man, say less. I’m in.

According to developers Castle Pixel LLC, Cattle Country has all the familiar trappings of a farming sim.
The “slice-of-life” adventure will let you do all the stuff you’d expect, like “mining, fishing, crafting, and farming – along with deep-rooted Wild West Quests delivering stories of romance, cattle drives, bandits, and robberies.”
Oh, hold up - did that quote just say you can rob people? Early 2025 Game of the Year contender right here folks.
But what if you’re more of a lover than a fighter? Well good for you ya wimp, because the game features “18 romanceable characters” so you can, and I quote, “take a chance and grab love by the reigns.”

There’s no exact release date in sight for Cattle Country, although the developers have stated that they’re targeting an “early 2025” date.
Whenever it does finally come out, you’ll be able to get it on PC, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. Apologies in advance to my rootin’ tootin’ Xbox friends.
If you really, really can’t wait though, then I do have some great news for you.
The demo for Cattle Country just went live on Steam, and it’s so fresh that as of writing this sentence there are currently zero reviews for it.

I’m gonna download it right now and post my 10/10 review ASAP.
