Pokémon fans in love with new free game you can play now

Gotta catch 'em all

A new free game is fast becoming a firm favourite with Pokémon fans.

It’s been a while since Pokémon fans have been this taken in by a new experience, especially one that’s free.

While many fans still play Pokémon GO, some of its initial charm has faded.

It’s still a fun little experience, but one that’s predictable; we could play it in our sleep.

And while there is a game where sleep is the main aim, it doesn’t bring anything especially exciting to the franchise.

This is where this new free game comes into play.

Pokémon TCG Pocket has become the Pokémon game to play, despite the fact it’s not out yet. Kind of. It’s a little complicated.

Although it’s already soft launched in New Zealand, technically it’s unavailable anywhere else.

However, when has the simple matter of where you live ever stopped a fandom from finding a work around?

Fans elsewhere have utilised alternate means to play the game, and from what we’ve seen of the cards they’ve already pulled, they’re loving this streamlined TCG.

In the words of GAMINGbible’s Tom Ryan-Smith, it’s a “new way to catch ‘em all”.

This mobile-based experience is one for collectors, with you able to open up two new booster packs each day.

What makes some of the cards you’ll find here extra special is the enigmatic “immersive cards”.

In the words of The Pokémon Company, they’ll “make you feel as though you’ve leapt into the world of the card’s illustration.”

You can join the others playing the system, so to speak, in order to play. Or you can wait until its official release on 30 October.

Pokémon TCG Pocket is available now, and is free to play, so if you have the know-how and are eager to begin, now might be the time.

All’s fair in the quest to become a Pokémon Master, right?
