Pokémon fans are hyped for an upcoming game that could feature the biggest open-world in the series to date.
Recently, the developer of the Pokémon games, Game Freak, have fallen victim to an unfortunate data breach that reportedly contained details on the Nintendo Switch 2 and even news on the movie, Detective Pikachu 2.

The most recent games in the series to be released is Pokémon Scarlet and Violet in 2022 for the Nintendo Switch.

In our review of Pokémon Scarlet, we said: “Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have finally delivered on the promise of an open-world entry, but with all the technical issues and stripped-back features, it’s hard to not feel like the Nintendo Switch held these games back.”
We know that Pokémon Legends: Z-A is on the way and it is expected to be released on the Nintendo Switch in 2025. However, the data breach also contained information on yet-to-be-announced projects such as an MMORPG Pokémon game.
As reported by Dexerto (via the Twitter account CentroLeaks), the rumoured Pokémon MMORPG is said to be released on the Nintendo Switch and its successor. It will reportedly have a focus on players battling against each other, as well as capturing and training Pokémon, of course.
“Leaked multiplayer game will be an MMO,” said a Redditor kicking off a discussion on the thread. “Switch’s are going to explode,” replied mlodydziad420, suggesting that the current console won't be able to handle a Pokémon game of this magnitude.

“The dream!” exclaimed an excited Sykes.
“New Pokémon Stadium type of games, maybe?” suggested Destinyrider13 with aKgiants91 adding “MMO Pokémon Stadium wouldn’t be bad. It could have monthly rank tournaments.”
These unconfirmed rumours should be taken with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise. What’s more, if this MMORPG from Game Freak is real, there’s no guarantee that will be a Pokémon game.
We’ll keep you posted if we hear of any further details on the rumoured Pokémon MMORPG.
