To celebrate Pokémon Day this year, The Pokémon Company is offering a very special freebie, one which has major connotations attached.
Every year, Pokémon Day takes place on 27 February; it’s an anniversary of sorts to mark when Pokémon Red and Green launched in Japan in 1996.
Over the years, showcases in the form of Pokémon Presents have been introduced to give fans a peek at upcoming releases.

This year will likely be no different.
However, the free download being given away could allude to something much bigger for the franchise.
Players will be able to take home their very own flying tera type Eevee, as revealed on the official Pokémon website.
It's about time we learnt more about Pokémon Legends: Z-A, don't you think?
“Eevee is soaring into Pokémon Day in style! You can join in on the fun by getting an Eevee with the flying tera type and a Classic Ribbon.”

This will be available to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet users provided they visit participating retailers to obtain the code.
Unfortunately, it seems that there are no retailer options for UK players; only Australia, Canada, and the US are listed.
The reason why this free download is potentially laden with meaning is that fans anticipate an update to be given regarding Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
Since its announcement, news about the upcoming title has been limited, to say the least.

What is more, fans hope that teasers about Gen 10 will be offered during Pokémon Presents as well.
How does this relate to Eevee? Well, it turns out that a flying type eeveelution of the beloved ‘mon was meant to be revealed in Gen 7, as per GameRant following a “tera leak” that was shared on social media by Centro Leaks.
Putting the pieces together, the giveaway of a flying tera type Eevee could be a hint at a major new eeveelution being added in future games.
It could also mean nothing, just to offer a counterargument to this theory.

Even if it proves to merely be wishful thinking from a Eeeve-loving fandom, the fact remains that a flying Eevee can be yours from now until 27 Feb.
