If you’re a fan of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and you love free stuff, then great news: free stuff is indeed available.
Bad news: you better get your butt in gear and claim it ASAP, because said free stuff is only available for the next 24 hours.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, like several Pokémon games before them, have a “Mystery Code” feature that lets you redeem free downloads - provided you know what said codes are.

These codes are only a limited-time affair however, with most lasting a maximum of a year before they disappear forever.
Three of these Mystery Codes are about to permanently expire, and fans of the Pokémon anime are definitely going to want to get their hands on at least one of them.
The codes are: SEEY0U1NPALDEA (which gives you a free Gimmighoul), D0T1STPARTNER (which gives you a free Quaxly) and WEARTERASTALCAP (which gives you the Terastal Cap clothing item).
Pokémon Legends Z-A is set to launch next year.
As you can probably tell from reading the codes themselves, these downloads are inspired by the Pokémon Horizons: The Series show. The Quaxly even lists Dot as its original trainer in its description.

Don’t worry if you’ve already nabbed these codes though, as there’s some brand new content coming Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s way once they expire.
As revealed on the official Pokémon website, a brand new wave of mass outbreaks and Tera Raid battles are dropping as soon as the aforementioned Mystery Codes expire.
This includes “mass outbreaks of Tinkatink, 5-star Tera Raid Battles featuring Corviknight and Bellibolt, and mass outbreaks of Chansey.”
Most importantly though, this event is a prelude to another, way more exciting event, as they also revealed that you’ll get a chance to catch a shiny Rayquaza in a new raid battle on 20 December next month.

Unfortunately, Rayquaza is still banned from competitive tournaments. So no chance to flex your shiny legendary on an official Pokémon stream.
