As a successor to the Nintendo Switch, there is a lot of pressure on the big release but as it stands, we don’t yet know when the Nintendo Switch 2 will be released or how much it will retail for.

However, according to Bloomberg analysts, the next Nintendo handheld could be priced at “$400 or more”.
The analysts, who regularly communicate with Nintendo and its software/hardware partners, anticipate this price as they believe the Switch 2 launch will be the biggest in gaming history.
“They will sell boatloads of Switch 2 in the first months in particular, almost regardless of the price,” said Tokyo-based industry watcher Serkan Toto (courtesy of Bloomberg).
“We can expect a great software lineup in year one, from new Mario Kart and 3D Mario after eight years to Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4. There will also be third-party support from day one, most probably including blockbusters like Call of Duty.”

Although this is good news, the price has fans feeling worried, especially with the addition of the “or more” in the analyst’s report.
As such, users took to r/GamingLeaksAndRumours to share their thoughts.
“The 'or more' scares me but $400 is the sweet spot in this current market,” user TopBoog commented. “$450 for the Mario Kart bundle.”
User Docile_Doggo went into more detail and said: “This has been part of my point for the unpopular opinion that this thing is not going to be $399, but some higher price. Inflation and tariffs. Nintendo is looking to make their system cycles longer, and they want to avoid same-model price increases. Whatever price they launch at is going to be the maximum price for that same model for the life of the system. To hedge their bets, they'd like to start at a higher price than at a lower one. After all, it's going to be easier to have a price cut later than a price increase later.”
