As Nintendo gets ready to show off the Switch 2 next month, reports show the launch lineup of games could be huge.
After years of speculation, Nintendo officially revealed the Switch 2 back in January. With a Direct coming in April and an expected 2025 release date for the console, it’s ramping up to be one of the biggest launches of the year.
Of course, we all know having a kickass console isn’t enough. The lineup of games launching with it also needs to be great.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is coming this year. Are you ready?
So far, we only know a new Mario Kart will be coming to the Switch 2 at launch. But new reports suggests the lineup of first party titles could be even bigger than that.
Bloomberg spoke to games industry analysts who suggest that Nintendo could launch a Super Mario Odyssey successor alongside Mario Kart 9, Metroid Prime 4, and Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

Granted, the last two we knew were already in development and would presumably launch on the Switch 2.
“They will sell boatloads of Switch 2 in the first months in particular, almost regardless of the price,” Tokyo-based analyst Serkan Toto told Bloomberg.
“We can expect a great software lineup in year one, from new Mario Kart and 3D Mario after eight years to Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4.”
With the Switch 2 being a much more powerful console than its predecessor, Toto also believes support from other publishers will also be massive.

“There will also be third-party support from day one,” he says. “Most probably including blockbusters like Call of Duty.”
Call of Duty would be an interesting title to have on the Switch 2. It’s not the first time Call of Duty has appeared on a Nintendo console, but we haven’t had one since Call of Duty: Ghosts on the Wii U.
Meanwhile, Bloomberg reports the Switch 2 could cost between $399 and $449, which would be a huge increase from the Switch's $300 retail price.
Analysts believe this is isn’t just down to inflation, but also because the cost of manufacturing the processor for the Switch 2 is much higher than the original Switch.

A Nintendo Direct will air on 2 April, where we'll get a deeper look at the Switch 2 and, presumably, some games coming to the platform.
