As delightful as Alarmo appears to be, its announcement feels like a slight trolling of those of us waiting for a Nintendo Switch 2 reveal.
It was back in May that Nintendo first teased the console, confirming that it would be unveiled before the end of the fiscal year.
“This is Furukawa, President of Nintendo. We will make an announcement about the successor to Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year,” a tweet read.

“It will have been over nine years since we announced the existence of Nintendo Switch back in March 2015.”
If you’re not aware, fiscal years run from April meaning that we should receive an announcement before April of 2025.
Ever since that tweet landed, Nintendo has had to add disclaimers on to the end of practically every event announcement with multiple Nintendo Direct’s now having stated, “Please note, there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor.”
With insiders claiming that the console actually is set to launch in early 2025, you’d imagine that an announcement would come sooner rather than later.

Super Mario Party Jamboree is out today on Nintendo Switch.
Whatever the plan is, we’re on the final countdown - that much we can be sure of.
The unveiling of the Switch’s successor will put a stop to the endless speculation.

In recent weeks, ‘leaked’ images of the console have been discredited as nonsense, but a real tidbit of information may have just surfaced.
As I’m sure you’ve heard, Game Freak was recently subject to a major leak, during which the Switch 2’s codename was seemingly mentioned.
Internally, the Switch 2 is reportedly being referred to as ‘Ounce’.
It goes without saying that this is simply just a codename. The Switch was known as NX, while the Wii was known as Revolution and the GameCube as Dolphin.

These codenames mean very little, so we can’t really take much away from this.
Still, it’s a fun fact for Nintendo fans.
Ounce isn’t a word that screams secret codename, but when has Nintendo ever done as is expected of them?
