A new FCC filing has convinced fans that something GameCube-shaped is on its way for the Nintendo Switch 2, which has in turn led them to believe that a digital library of GameCube goodies will be coming to the console too.
Thank you in advance to Nintendo Everything for the original source!
Over the weekend, fans spotted that Nintendo filed something rather vague with the FCC– but not so vague that a bunch of internet sleuths couldn’t figure out its purpose.

FFC ID “BKEBEE021” is pretty light on info, but there are a few interesting details we can gauge from it.
Firstly, the “BEE” part of the ID specifically refers to the Nintendo Switch 2’s model number, as the OG Nintendo Switch’s model number is “HAC”.
Secondly, the listing specifically states that the controller will use Bluetooth, so we know it’ll be wireless.
However, the most interesting bit of info refers to a “Label” that will be fixed to the back of the controller. When the graphic provided in the FCC listing is laid over the top of a Nintendo GameCube controller, it's a dead ringer.

So, at this point it would be surprising if this wasn’t a Nintendo GameCube controller. But, in a thread over on the r/GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, some of the commentators also think this implies that a digital library of Nintendo GameCube-related downloads will also be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2.
“It also seems to be wireless which leads me to believe Gamecube NSO library is upon us,” commented user Itachi2099.
“GameCube's almost 24 years old, I'd say it's retro enough to get the NSO treatment,” replied user Arcade_Gann0n.
Obviously there’s no confirmation on that front yet, but I do think the commenters might be right.

I’d be surprised if Nintendo were making a GameCube controller for the Switch 2 just to potentially get some extra sales. I think it’s far more likely that they’re intending to use it as a way to advertise that GameCube games will be available on the system itself.
Expect to hear more on April 2 next month when the Nintendo Switch 2 Nintendo Direct takes place.
