Nintendo Switch 2 leaked design baffles fans

That's quite a change

Thanks to multiple leaks and insider reports, we are pretty certain that the Nintendo Switch 2 is set to be announced any day now.

As the highly-anticipated follow-up to the Nintendo Switch, news of the latest Nintendo handheld is causing quite a stir but with no official announcement just yet, rumours are becoming rife.

Up until now, we have seen the first game for the Nintendo Switch 2 officially announced as well as a first peek at its new design.

However, a recent leak has left fans baffled over a potential design choice.

According to an interview between Spanish gaming magazine Vandal and Rubén Mercado, CEO of video game accessories and peripherals company Blade, the Nintendo Switch 2 may change the way that analogue sticks are implemented.

Mercado reveals that the analogue sticks may not appear as they did in the leaked designs as protectors for them “will not be able to be manufactured on this occasion”.

This vague statement continues with the news that the sticks could also be “flat” this time around as this would prevent dust from entering the console.

The new-and-improved analogue sticks would be part of the infamous Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons, which according to Mercado, will be magnetic and “at the same time, have a locking system so that they remain firmly attached to the consoles”.

Other than that, the insider also claims that the Nintendo Switch 2 is “completed” and is aiming for a worldwide release with enough supply to satisfy demand.

Not only that but a launch date is speculated to be around March/April 2025.

As this interview has been translated from Spanish, it is worth considering that some details have been lost in translation.

However, it will be interesting to see if the common issue with drifting Joy-Cons for the next iteration of the console has been rectified.
