The Nintendo Switch’s successor is shaping up to be a fine console indeed after a leak has seemingly confirmed a feature fans have been desperate to see included.
Even though Nintendo has said on more than one occasion that the Switch 2 isn’t coming out this year, that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill.
In fact, industry insiders are suggesting the next Nintendo console’s arrival is imminent.

Before the Switch 2, there is The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
Without official confirmation, we have to take these claims with a pinch of salt. Still, that isn’t to say we can’t get excited about leaks that have come from “verified” sources.
Backwards compatibility is a feature we all want in our new consoles, yet it’s one that has been known to get overlooked, at least initially.

Apparently though, this isn’t the case for backwards compatibility on the Switch 2.
When Adrien190303 shared that the Switch 2 has “seemingly entered mass production” on Reddit, this led to fellow Redditor NatetheHate2 saying, “It has backwards compatibility support.”
While caution is always advised, NatetheHate2 has been proven to be a “generally reliable source”, so sayeth the Reddit community.
Although that doesn’t make him infallible, it does lend weight to his claim.

Yet, while this is a welcome piece of information, there are some who think it silly that we’re even discussing backwards compatibility as only a possibility.
“There is absolutely no way people are still talking about backwards compatibility,” began Roder777, “It’s gonna have it. We have known this for countless years. They aren't just randomly going to throw away millions for nothing.”
Even if that’s the case, it’s still “good to confirm” as KingofGrapes7 put it.
Whether you see this as an obvious feature or as a delightful surprise, we can all agree that backwards compatibility is a must for Nintendo moving forward.

Now if we could just get a press release from Nintendo about the Switch 2’s launch...
Get manifesting, folks.
