Nintendo has finally announced something we’ve all been waiting for since the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal trailer: a new, in-depth look at what the console truly has to offer.
As revealed on the official Nintendo site, we’ll be getting “a closer look” at the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 in a new Nintendo Direct on Wednesday, April 2 at 6 AM PDT.
The details regarding the Direct are decidedly sparse, so all we can really do at this point is theorise on its contents.

I will wager that we’ll be getting a more in-depth look at the upcoming Mario Kart 9 however, as we only really caught a short glimpse of it in the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal trailer.
However, folks over on the r/NintendoSwitch seem to think that the Direct is actually foreshadowing something else entirely: pre-orders.
“Damn 6 am for US PST, guess they're giving us the rest of the day to fight for pre-orders. Good thing I requested the day off to watch this event,” commented user KelvinBelmont.
“Oh yeah I forgot preorders will probably go up right after. Well, looks like I'm not getting much done at work starting at 9 am that day,” replied user The330Strangla.

And you know, they might actually be onto something there. 6 AM PST time is roughly 11 PM in Japan, and around 2 PM here in the UK.
The timing is a little bit suspect to me, because if the Direct is roughly an hour long that would mean that it’ll end around midnight in Japan… which is a suspiciously perfect time to open up pre-orders for the console.
Either way, the reveal trailer left a little to be desired, so I’m mostly just curious as to what the new Switch is capable of. For the love god, just tell us what that weird little C button on the right joy-con does. It’s been annoying me for months.
