Nintendo has announced a brand-new method of delivering the latest news on its products and launches, just in time for the Nintendo Switch 2.
If you tuned into today’s Nintendo Direct in the hopes that you’d learn more about the Nintendo Switch 2, you might be a tad disappointed, it wasn’t too bad though.

We got some decent game announcements and reveals like a brand-new Tomodachi Life game, a sneak-peak at Metroid Prime 4, and an awesome new way of sharing your digital games with those close to you.

One of the coolest announcements though was a brand-new app you can download for free, provided you have a valid Nintendo to access it with.
It’s called Nintendo Today! and will act as a handy pocket companion to keep you up to date on all things Nintendo going forward, like a Nintendo Direct but less of an event.
Keep in mind that Nintendo Directs aren’t going anywhere, Nintendo confirmed during the presentation that they’ll continue to provide these digital previews, this is likely just a way of keeping track of the smaller stuff as well as keeping it all on an easily accessible calendar.
It sounds promising, and it’ll be very handy as we get more and more Nintendo Switch 2 news in the build-up to its launch.

As for when it’ll launch we still don’t entirely know, although it’s still scheduled for sometime this year.
Today’s Nintendo Direct unfortunately didn’t offer any clues, as games like Metroid Prime 4 which will definitely be featured on the Nintendo Switch 2 only offered the vague release date of “2025.”
Stay-tuned though, as those hands-on preview events Nintendo mentioned during the Nintendo Switch 2’s reveal are taking place in the coming months, and with the Nintendo Today! app you’ll be able to keep track of all the latest happenings.
