Animal Crossing: New Horizons may be as dead as a dodo but that doesn’t mean that its fans don’t look back at those days with fondness.
That is why Nintendo has surprised Animal Crossing: New Horizons owners with some free downloads for the Nintendo Switch.

Released in early 2020, the latest entry in the much-loved Animal Crossing series became a lifeline during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Allowing friends to come together from all over the world to visit each other’s islands, chase down Celeste and just hang out was a blessing.
That is why it was such a shame when Nintendo decided to stop updating the game after its Happy Home Paradise DLC.
Be that as it may, players still look back on those days full of happy memories and these newest freebies by Nintendo are the perfect way to commemorate them.
Nintendo Switch Online members will be able to download 15 Animal Crossing: New Horizons icons which they can use as their profile pictures.

It features some much-loved characters from the game such as art dealer (and swindler) Redd, Bones, Kid Cat, Tad, Benjamin, Poppy, Chester, Rory, Boots and Bud.
As well as the villagers, you can also grab icons for a peach, ghost and gyroid.
These free downloads can be found in the rewards tab of your Nintendo Switch Online membership page.
There are also freebies available for fans of Donkey Kong courtesy of Nintendo which can be downloaded before 7 August.

This all comes the same week as the Nintendo Switch 2’s first RPG is seemingly confirmed via a job listing.
This is an exciting time for those eager for the next piece of hardware from Nintendo but with no release date as of yet, it is very much a waiting game.
