Hogwarts Legacy is finally out for Nintendo Switch after months of waiting. Fans are both impressed and a little disappointed after seeing footage of the game surface online as it running on Nintendo Switch is an impressive feat, but there had to be sacrifices made.
It seems one of those sacrifices was an iconic Hogwarts Legacy feature that is a long-running part of the franchise, and one that all fans dream about.
Hogwarts Legacy has finally arrived for Nintendo Switch.
According to a user on Reddit, they've spotted that one important feature is missing from the Switch port - none other than the Hogwarts Express. This player, u/BlackKyurem14, was playing through a quest called 'The High Keep' which, at one point, sees you save a Hippogriff and fly it over the train tracks that lead to Hogwarts. When they did, they noticed the train wasn't there as it appeared in other versions of the game.

A couple of other Redditors confirmed that the Hogwarts Express should have been in that scene and that the main characters actually comment on it running along the tracks.
Why was this feature removed? Well, it's likely to ensure that the game can run at optimal settings on the Nintendo Switch handheld. We've seen direct comparisons of the Switch port running alongside other versions and the Nintendo edition of the game has had to cut back on textures, as well as map sizes. This is due to the Switch's lower power compared to other consoles. The console just isn't powerful enough to handle one seamless open-world with all the features included. It's likely that the Hogwarts Express was removed to improve performance elsewhere. Fans are torn on the port due to it also featuring lengthy load times, but it was never going to be a perfect port of the game.
