Harry Potter is getting a major reboot in the form of an HBO Max series, and casting is reportedly going well.
Yesterday we covered the actor being eye’d up for Severus Snape, which caused quite a stir amongst fans, many of which can be dismissed as bigotry.

In a new update for the series it’s been claimed the show has got someone in mind to play Albus Dumbledore as well, a pivotal Harry Potter character who acts as Harry’s mentor in a way, and one of the most powerful wizards in existence.
Advert
The role has been previously played by Richard Harris, who played the wizard in Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone in addition to Harry Potter and The Chamber Of Secrets.
Once upon a time it was supposed to be Ian McKellan in the robe, but he went on to become another wizard, Gandalf in the Lord Of The Rings.
When Richard Harris unfortunately passed away the role went to the late Sir Michael Gambon, who played the character for the rest of the film series.
Now Mark Rylance is reportedly being considered for the role according to Variety, and that while negotiations haven’t actually begun yet the studio has reached out to the actor to play the part.

Rylance is known for roles in films like Dunkirk, Ready Player One and Bridge Of Spies to name a few.
So we have an idea of who will play Snape and Dumbledore if HBO’s outreach is successful, but we still have no idea who could play the leading trio of characters.
Harry, Hermione and Ron are seemingly yet to be cast, but apparently over 30,000 children have auditioned for the upcoming TV series, so there’s clearly a lot of applicants to get through.
