It happened. It finally happened. After months of speculation over when Rockstar Games will give us a mere breadcrumb of a clue as to when the GTA VI trailer will drop, it landed on our laps in spectacular style. And with that news came questions about its price, a number currently being teased by Take-Two Interactive.
The internet blew up with excitement in record time yesterday, resulting in cries of joy from fans, ourselves included. No, the trailer isn’t here yet, but it will be next month – unless Rockstar decides to surprise us and create even more social media chaos. Oh wait, its parent company is already doing that, though with less excitement and more annoyance.

According to Take-Two’s Strauss Zelnick, the price of GTA VI isn’t going to go down just because AI might have been used in the game’s development. During a recent earnings call, Zelnick explained that Take-Two and Rockstar have been following the path of other devs utilising AI, and this is despite all the negativity surrounding its use.

In some respects, it’s unsurprising that such a large company would use AI in its creative process. However, with people losing their jobs to AI, not forgetting how flawed AI actually is, concern is everywhere within the industry. Yet, Zelnick is unphased. “Our strategy is to be the most creative, the most innovative, and most efficient company in the business, and I think AI probably ticks all three boxes,” the CEO explained. “But don’t expect the price tags to go down. Just expect everything to get better.”
The backlash Take-Two and Rockstar received after the price of the Red Dead Redemption port was revealed has done nothing to alert them to how angry fans are at overpriced content. In truth, everyone has been expecting a hefty price attached to one of the most anticipated games of a decade, but that doesn’t make this pill any less bitter when swallowing.
Until the trailer drops in December, we’re back to rehashing old leaks, deep-diving into possible lore, features, and plots, while waiting on tenterhooks to see if Rockstar sneak attacks us with an early trailer reveal.
