The creator of Gears Of War, Cliff Bleszinski, has hinted he knows where the series is heading, and it’s very exciting.
While we don’t know much about Gears Of War 6, we at least know that it’s in development, and a job listing for the game was spotted a few months ago. Rumours and insider information are already spreading across the internet like wildfire, with one rumour suggesting the next will make the bold move of introducing an enormous open world.

Even the creator of the Gears Of War series, Cliff Bleszinski is diving into the rumours and recently took to Twitter to tease fans with his inside knowledge.

In a tweet, Bleszinski said: “Heard a rumor today from my friend who wrote Gears 5 about the future of the franchise and, let’s just say…” He then cut the tweet short, with the rest being a GIF of Leonardo Dicaprio’s character in Django Unchained saying: “You had my curiosity, now you have my attention.”
Exactly what Bleszinski learned is anyone’s guess, but if it has the series creator excited, it must be pretty good right?
Cliff Bleskinki was the director of Gears Of War for several years, before leaving the series entirely after the release of Gears Of War 3. Leadership was then handed to The Coalition who’ve handled the series ever since, with the most recent entry being Gears Of War 5 in 2019.
While The Coalition has strived to introduce new ideas and gameplay mechanics to the series, fan reception hasn’t steadily declined since they took over, though hopefully whatever they have planned for Gears Of War 6 is exactly what’s needed to bring fans back to the fight.

Speculation suggests Gears Of War 6 is aiming for a 2026 release window, meaning we’ll probably get our first look at the game in addition to an official release date sometime in 2025.
When it releases, it’ll launch exclusively for Xbox and PC platforms.
